Garry Monk has worked wonders at St Andrew’s in the current campaign but his side have crumbled in the season-defining fixtures that hold the key to a play-off place. Indeed, the Blues find themselves trailing at this moment in time, with fans starting to pray on a miracle.
One thing that has been worrying supporters over the past month has been the future of Che Adams, as according to The Mirror, Manchester United, Arsenal, Celtic and Watford are all interested in the forward.
The Englishman has been on fire in the current campaign having produced an incredible 21 goals and four assists, as one of the standout performers in the Championship. So, with a number of top clubs interested in signing him in the summer transfer window, perhaps Monks will have to find a replacement for the fan favourite.
One player who could fill the potential void is Isaac Vassell. The forward is still relatively young at the age of 25 and he’s a very similar player to Adams, with his pace, strength and finishing ability making him a dangerous outlet. He’s only managed to feature eight times for the Blues in the current campaign, which can be put down to him spending a long time out on the sidelines due to injury, so he’ll be desperate to prove himself from here on in.
It’s clear to see that he knows how to find the back of the net on a consistent basis as he produced 14 goals at Luton Town back in the 2016/17 season, and he’s shown glimpses of something special at St Andrew’s.
Although, it looks as if Garry Monk could be about to upset Tony Pulis, as according to The Sun (10 March, page 61) (via HITC), Birmingham have no interest in letting Vassell go and will move to extend a contract that is currently due to expire in 2021, despite Middlesbrough being likely to renew their interest and make an offer in July.
Birmingham fans, do you think Vassell has what it takes to mould into the next Che Adams?
