It seems crazy to think that Krystian Bielik has been at Arsenal for a whole four years now.
The Polish youngster joined the north London side from Legia Warsaw in 2015 as a 17-year-old tipped for great things, and after a sensational season out on loan for Charlton where the centre-back was Man of the Match in the Addicks 2-1 win over Sunderland in the League One play-off final, there is some hype amongst Arsenal fans about what Bielik can offer next season.
His first full year in professional football has been a major success and Bielik has proven that he is a player with substantial potential, which is why it could be a smart move this summer for the Pole to remain at Arsenal this season and play as cover for both the defence and midfield.
Bielik operated largely as a defensive midfielder during his time out at Charlton but was originally signed for Arsenal as a centre-back, and this versatility could be of great use for the north London club with the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny linked away this summer, giving the 21-year-old the perfect opportunity to gain game time.
With another season of the Europa League on the horizon, Unai Emery could use Bielik as a starter in this competition as well as the majority of Arsenal’s youth as a whole, and with the likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Joe Willock already showing immense signs of promise, Bielik could partner well with either midfielder in the centre of the park to act as the defensive anchor-man.
At 6’2”, Bielik’s height is also something that will add something new to Arsenal’s game, with most of the Gunners’ defenders and holding midfielders on the smaller side of the size scale, and this could be what gives the Polish youngster the edge when it comes to starting in games or not.
Bielik is one of the many Arsenal players to impress out on loan this season, and with a summer exodus likely to occur in north London, the defensive prospect could be one of the few figures to benefit massively when a new footballing campaign rolls around for the Gunners.
