Liverpool currently find themselves sitting at the top of the Premier League table after 16 games, with the title firmly in their sights.
The Reds will be desperate to ensure consistency from here on in to really hammer home their advantage at this moment in time, with Manchester City looking to pile on the pressure.
Of course, the January transfer window will be important in terms of bringing in additions, but Jurgen Klopp should also look to sell a number of players to raise funds and create space.
One player that Klopp must bite the bullet and trade in for cash is Nathaniel Clyne.
The England international, who is valued at £18 million (by Transfermarkt), has been plagued with injury troubles over the past season or so at Anfield, which has left him fighting for his future.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has established himself as the club’s first-choice right-back in the current campaign, with Joe Gomez also switching out to the right-hand side if needed, so it will be almost impossible for Clyne to work his way back into the German’s plans with two established defenders ahead of him in the pecking order.
He is still nursing a long-term injury at Anfield as he continues to spend more time off the field than on it, which could force the Reds into sending him out on loan in January.
But, instead of looking to send him out on loan with the knowledge that he could suffer a reoccurring injury, Klopp must bite the bullet and trade him in for cash as the Reds can never guarantee that he will be able to complete a full season, and there is no place for him at the club.
