# Liverpool: Reds could look at Federico Chiesa in summer

**[Journalist Pete O’Rourke](https://twitter.com/SportsPeteO) says that [Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/) could look at signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa in the summer.**

### The Lowdown: Chiesa interest

Liverpool have previously been [credited](https://www.calciomercatoweb.it/2023/01/22/calciomercato-juventus-chiesa-salah-psg-liverpool-klopp/) with interest in Chiesa, as they reportedly consider letting Mohamed Salah go in the summer.

Their [full focus](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/liverpool-premier-league-jude-bellingham-jurgen-klopp-reds-transfer-news-updates/) is thought to be trying to sign Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham, but they could look to strengthen in other areas as well following what looks to be a disappointing campaign, out of both domestic cup competitions and sitting in [ninth](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) place in the Premier League table.

### The Latest: Summer move?

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88111122-liverpool-federico-chiesa-mohamed-salah-juventus-italy-jurgen-klopp-premier-league-transfer-rumours-anfield), O’Rourke says that the Reds could be ‘looking’ at a move for Chiesa this summer to take advantage of Juventus’ financial situation, after they were docked 15 points in January for ‘[alleged financial irregularities and false accounting](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/20876/12791409/juventus-serie-a-side-given-15-point-deduction-as-tottenhams-fabio-paratici-handed-30-month-ban-from-italian-football)‘:

*“Maybe in the summer, he might have the likes of Liverpool and other Premier League clubs looking at him and seeing if they can capitalise on Juventus’ financial situation.”*

### The Verdict: Prioritise Bellingham

If Jurgen Klopp’s side should be prioritising any signing in the summer, it should be Bellingham over Chiesa.

After signing Cody Gakpo in January, the German already has [eight](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/startseite/verein/31) attacking options at his disposal, albeit two are injured at the moment in Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.

Hailed as a ‘[mentality monster](https://twitter.com/eamonnbrennan/status/1414321462199169027)‘ by journalist Eamonn Brennan after helping Italy win Euro 2020, Chiesa is no doubt a class player, and was scoring plenty of goals and making plenty of assists for Juve before a bad injury ruled him out of action for large parts of the last two seasons ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/federico-chiesa/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/341092/plus/0?saison=&verein=506&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

However, with [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/vertragsende/verein/31) midfielders all out of contract in the summer, and Arthur Melo set to leave after his loan spell, the Anfield outfit should be looking at signing Bellingham above all.
