# ‘Financing the Plea deal’ – Most Newcastle fans keen on pushing ace out of St. James’ Park

**The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to letting Aleksandar Mitrovic go this summer. The club have long been ready to sell the striker and this summer looks like the right time to let him go, with Fulham [prepared to fork](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/07/03/fulham-closing-20m-signing-aleksandar-mitrovic/) out the £20 million asking price.**

> £20m for Mitro is a good deal for [#nufc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/nufc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw). He hasn't done anything of note at the club and the money will go a long way to helping us secure a better replacement.

The Magpies have been linked with a number of strikers in the past few months. [Alassane Plea](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11424646/newcastle-in-talks-for-nice-forward-alassane-plea) and [Nikolai Jorgensen](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/who-nicolai-jorgensen-denmark-forward-14811953) are the two where there seemed to be some substance behind the rumours, although the way things have been going with Plea it’s unlikely the Frenchman will end up at St James Park after Tottenham and West Ham have both [supposedly](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11423197/west-ham-bid-27m-for-nices-alassane-plea-with-spurs-newcastle-fulham-also-keen) lodged bids for the striker.

The Geordies aren’t confident that they can compete with either the Lilywhites or the Hammers financially but if they do manage to sign Plea it would be a huge coup for the club. At the moment, minus Mitrovic, Rafa Benitez’s side currently have just Dwight Gayle and Joselu to be deployed up top and neither of them has looked like a convincing Premier League striker. The club will be looking to sign a goalscorer, and the Mitrovic money will be vital in bringing someone in.

> Thing is tho can we even replace him for the 20 million we will be getting? If it was us after Mitrovic from Fulham do you think we would be getting him for 20 million more like 25-30

> I always thought we would get 20m for him and 15m for Gayle to buy a decent striker.

The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be keen to get Mitrovic off their books and get a new striker in.
