The potential arrival of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham at Manchester City is a ‘frightening prospect’, says Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Lowdown: Partnership at BVB

Having both arrived at the German outfit in 2020, the Englishman formed a formidable partnership in the Bundesliga with City icon Erling Haaland.

In 89 games for the Black and Yellow of BVB, the Norway international bagged a sensational 86 goals. The 19-year-old England international, on the other hand, has thus far impressively contributed 14 goals and 20 assists in 103 appearances for the club.

Consequently, rumours have emerged claiming Haaland is trying to convince his former teammate to join up with him at City.

The Latest: Sheth reacts

Sheth thinks Haaland’s attempt to lure Bellingham to the Etihad is a scary prospect, given their dominant partnership in the German top-flight.

Speaking with GiveMeSport, the Sky Sports reporter claimed:

“Now they’ve brought Haaland there, not only is it the pulling power of Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, it’s also Haaland. He can maybe speak to some of his old team-mates and say, ‘Jude Bellingham, come here.’ It’s a frightening prospect.”

The Verdict: Incredible talent

According to The Athletic, Dortmund value the midfielder at £131.6m, meaning it would take a British record to land the 19-year-old star.

However, looking at his underlying stats, it may be worth City blowing their budget to bring him in.

As per FBRef, compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, the Englishman ranks in the top three percent for assists, dribbles completed and touches in the attacking penalty area, and also in the top six percent for non-penalty expected goals, providing immense attacking threat from the centre of the park.

Whilst Liverpool and Real Madrid have thus far been touted as the favourites, Haaland’s Sky Blues stardom could convince the former Birmingham City man to join up with him in Manchester next summer.
