Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho's current situation is one 'to look out for' in terms of his future, according to transfer expert Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Sancho flattering to deceive

The Englishman joined the Red Devils with a huge reputation last year but this time at Old Trafford has been largely underwhelming to date.

Sancho has scored just eight goals and registered four assists in 52 United appearances, which is a far cry from the form he displayed in a Borussia Dortmund shirt.

He hasn't completed a full 90 minutes since the middle of October, at home to Newcastle United in the Premier League, and he has drifted down the attacking pecking order, working on an individual training programme currently.

The Latest: One 'to look out for'

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones admitted it is a situation that is worth keeping an eye on:

"I’m looking into the reasons for this [Sancho not going on the mid-season tour] at the moment. I hope Sancho can get back to a good place for his and United’s sake. I think this is a situation to look out for."

The Verdict: Has to find another gear

Such big things were expected from Sancho but he really hasn't delivered barring sporadic moments of class, and the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at the same time arguably didn't help him.

Too often, the 22-year-old has failed to have a major impact on games, finding himself on the periphery of them, and the likes of Antony, Marcus Rashford and even Anthony Martial all arguably look better options, so much so that Erik ten Hag may have doubts about his long-term future at United.

It is vital that Sancho kicks on once domestic action returns after the 2022 World Cup - Jurgen Klopp has described him as 'world-class' in the past - if not, the club could have a decision to make at the end of the season.
