Manchester United will look to bring in a 'marquee' striker during the summer transfer window, according to an update from CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Lowdown: Lack of a world-class striker

Erik ten Hag has put together a formidable squad at Old Trafford this season, bringing in the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Antony last summer.

One area where they haven't strengthened greatly is in central attacking areas, however, with Cristiano Ronaldo departing and Wout Weghorst coming in.

It is something that needs to be addressed this summer, in order for United to reach that next level and become Premier League title challengers again.

The Latest: Couold change this summer

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jacobs claimed that a new big-name striker could end up being a priority for Ten Hag come the end of the season:

"Manchester United will absolutely want a striker.

"And even if Wout Weghorst succeeds, and they come back to Burnley and try and agree something for that, I sense that it’s unlikely that they still wouldn’t strengthen in that area and look for some kind of marquee name."

The Verdict: Osimhen ideal?

There is no doubt that a striker has to be considered the main area of focus this summer, with United looking well-stocked in defence, midfield and out wide.

Someone who could fit the bill perfectly is Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who is having a superb season, scoring 14 goals in 15 Serie A starts and potentially inspiring them to title glory.

His pace, power and all-round game are not dissimilar to Erling Haaland and he could be the final piece of the jigsaw that turns United into one of the best teams in Europe.

Harry Kane is an obvious alternative, and while United should never turn down the chance to sign him - he has 199 Premier League goals to his name - he does turn 30 this summer and would cost an enormous amount of money.
