Tottenham eye ‘dream addition’ in Marcelo Brozovic – report -Follow up

Tottenham Hotspur eye a January “dream addition” in Inter Milan midfielder and Croatia international Marcelo Brozovic but could struggle to get the deal done.

The Lowdown: Another opportunity

Despite splashing out around £145 million throughout the summer transfer window, it seems as though Antonio Conte will be given another opportunity to freshen and re-shape the squad to his liking when the window reopens in January.

As reported by Mondo Calcio, it appears Spurs are targeting Brozovic, who is currently at the World Cup, with Jones now giving his reaction.

The Latest: Tottenham ambition

According to the reporter Dean Jones, Spurs have demonstrated their ambition level by targeting a midfielder of Brozovic’s ilk.

Though, he has his doubts when it comes to testing Inter’s resolve for what he believes is a star who is part of the Nerazzurri’s “steelwork.”

Trying to prise away an asset of the Croatian’s importance midway through the season is unlikely to happen in Jones’ eyes.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said:

“Brozovic is part of the steelwork at Inter Milan. He’s so influential for them and brilliant.

“I can understand why Tottenham would be going after a player like this and he would be a dream addition to the midfield, but I just don’t see it happening.

“This would be an unbelievable signing and one that I just can’t believe Inter Milan would allow to happen.”

The Verdict: Brilliant but unlikely

Since joining Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015, Brozovic has been a mainstay in the side for the last eight seasons.

The £180k-per-week star has been an ever-consistent presence during his time with Inter and offers an esteemed service as a well-rounded ball-winning midfielder.

With this in mind, you can completely understand the appeal from a Spurs perspective and it would certainly make for a midfield-bolstering January pickup.

But Inter have shown their respective intent, renewing the World Cup star’s contract in March of this year, with his deal now running until the summer of 2026.

This is a move that is brilliant, but unlikely.
