Tottenham Hotspur have not yet entered negotiations for Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni with their pursuit deemed "an open situation" according to reports.

The Lowdown: Fluctuating Minutes

The 23-year-old has been a regular feature for Inter since bustling his way into the Serie A side's first-team plans in 2019, but has seen his minutes fluctuate somewhat this season, despite making nine starts in the league from a possible 15.

Meanwhile, Tottenham could do with reinforcements at the back having conceded 21 goals thus far and 11 in their last five Premier League games.

A talent like Bastoni is arguably strong enough defensively to derail Ben Davies' run in the Spurs backline and bolster competition for places at the very minimum.

The Latest: "An open situation"

According to esteemed transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the situation surrounding Bastoni is "open" despite Antonio Conte's side not yet entering negotiations with Inter.

Though, with the winter transfer edging closer, the situation could soon change.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano said: “At the moment, nothing is going on between Tottenham and Inter or Tottenham and Bastoni’s agents, so it’s still an open situation.”

The Verdict: Make it happen!

Accused by Mourinho of lacking aggression in previous years, Tottenham are still yet to rectify that issue.

£43million Bastoni can bring that, having featured in an Inter side that racked up 71 yellow cards in the Italian top-tier last season.

The 23-year-old got four of those and could add another dimension at the back for Conte with his ability to operate within a counter-attacking playstyle.

With his average of 5.5 accurate long balls per 90, the centre-back would work wonders on the left side of the back-three, playing into Spurs' fast-break style.

The N17 side should make this move happen.
