Tottenham: Journalist admits concern over Antonio Conte's future - Follow up

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte may consider returning to Juventus if Massimiliano Allegri is sacked, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The Lowdown: Conte linked with exit

The Italian has been a wonderful appointment by Spurs, backing up his reputation as one of the best coaches in Europe and turning the north Londoners into a force.

In recent days, however, news has come to light on Conte’s future as the Italian is linked with a return to Juve – where he enjoyed great success in the past, with Allegri finding himself under huge pressure.

Il Bianco Nero claim the 53-year-old ‘would gladly’ return to the Old Lady and a reunion in Turin would be a ‘very valid option’ upon the expiry of his Tottenham contract.

It is a rumour Spurs will not welcome, considering the impact their boss has made in under a year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Latest: Journalist admits concern

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Brown talked up the idea of Conte returning to Turin, admitting there is concern from those high up at the club:

“I think Spurs will have seen that news and thought the same thing, that it may be a job that their manager would be interested in.

“Conte, as we know, is very ambitious and very demanding. He ultimately wants to manage the top teams and challenge for the biggest trophies.

“Spurs are probably still a little way away from doing that and you have to wonder whether they have the kind of financial resources that Conte is ever going to be entirely happy with.

“The worry for Spurs when they appointed him was always that one of the genuinely top jobs in world football would come around and that he’d be tempted away.”

The Verdict: Would be a monumental blow

To lose Conte so early in his tenure would be an almighty setback for Spurs, considering how hard it would be to bring in someone even close to his level.

Will Kane finish his career at Spurs?

He feels like the man to finally end the club’s trophy drought, potentially even mounting Premier League and Champions League bids, and this is hopefully only the start.

The lure of Juve could be great for Conte, however, given his affiliation with the club, but Daniel Levy will hope that loyalty prevails and the manager stays put.
