# Forget Lemar: This £25.50m-rated star should be Arsenal’s Sanchez replacement

**Our resident Gooners are keen for Arsene Wenger to forget his pursuit of Thomas Lemar and sign Riyad Mahrez instead.**

The Gunners boss has [reportedly](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/4094430/arsenal-monaco-thomas-lemar-45million-deal/) seen his side have a third bid of €50million (£44.7m) rejected for the Monaco winger and our local Arsenal fans are now calling for Wenger to switch his attention elsewhere.

Mahrez is [seemingly desperate](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/may/30/riyad-mahrez-leicester-city-transfer-request-time-to-move-on) to leave Leicester City this summer and the Algerian has been [tipped](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/633104/Riyad-Mahrez-Arsenal-Transfer-News) for a move to the Emirates. He netted 17 goals and assisted 11 as Leicester won the Premier League in 2016.

The title winner – rated at £25.50m on [Transfermakrt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/riyad-mahrez/profil/spieler/171424) – did not enjoy the best of season’s last term, but after earning PFA Player of the Year in the previous campaign and has already demonstrated his supreme quality.

The 27-year-old may just be a better alternative to Lemar, having proven his ability in the Premier League and possessing the knowledge of what it takes to win the competition.

Mahrez has [reportedly stated](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/may/30/riyad-mahrez-leicester-city-transfer-request-time-to-move-on) his desire to leave the Foxes this summer, with Roma leading the way after having one bid [rejected](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/roma-leicester-riyad-mahrez-transfer-10881356) already.

[Reports](https://www.chiesaditotti.com/2017/7/28/16036902/roma-reportedly-up-their-mahrez-offer) suggests that the Serie A club are planning a new £32million offer for the winger, but the Gunners should swoop in for Mahrez, who could go some way in replacing [Alexis Sanchez](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-transfer-news-sanchez-13398443), should he depart.
