# Further doubt cast over Manchester United star’s future

[![Robin Van Persie](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Robin-Van-Persie.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Robin-Van-Persie.jpg)Manchester United fans have been slightly happier here in the Football Transfer Tavern this week after witnessing certain Champions League results, but that does not stop [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2014/02/20/robin-van-persie-happier-with-holland-than-manchester-united-claims-louis-van-gaal-4310911/) from making their day just that little bit worse.

The publication has claimed that star forward Robin van Persie has been unhappy at Old Trafford all season, and will relish some time away from his club side with the Dutch national team this summer.

One of our punters asks just how we know this, and makes the point that there have been rumours of unrest when it comes to players before, but as our landlord informs him, the RVP gossip comes from a source that knows the player rather well – his national team manager.

Louis van Gaal has claimed that the player is not happy under David Moyes – something we think has been blatantly clear all season – and the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson has effected him rather drastically.

The manager noted: “I think he should be great in the tournament because he loves to play in the Dutch squad,’

“The football from Man Utd now is for him maybe difficult but then he wishes to show his techniques. Techniques in the Dutch team for him is higher.”

Our punters are not exactly happy with the comments from van Gaal – especially when it comes to the slight dig at Moyes’ side.
