# Manchester United: Fabrizio Romano drops Alejandro Garnacho contract update

**[Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1553826199922962432) has revealed that [Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) are working on a new deal for young forward Alejandro Garnacho.**

### The Lowdown: Garnacho impresses at Old Trafford

Garnacho has been progressing through the youth system with the Red Devils and made his [Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alejandro-garnacho/leistungsdaten/spieler/811779/plus/0?saison=2021) debut [last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alejandro-garnacho/debuets/spieler/811779) after contributing to [31 goals in 52 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alejandro-garnacho/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/811779) at academy level.

The winger was selected by Erik ten Hag for their [pre-season tour](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-united-garnacho-rayo-vallecano-24633504) of Thailand and Australia but didn’t make a single appearance across four games.

Ten Hag did give the 18-year-old the nod against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, though, with Garnacho [catching the eye](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-united-garnacho-rayo-vallecano-24633504) at Old Trafford ahead of the Premier League opener against Brighton next weekend.

### The Latest: Romano’s update

[Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1553826199922962432), who previously said that Garnacho is regarded as a [‘huge talent’](https://twitter.com/fabrizioromano/status/1535552019762642944?s=21&t=TJgqoyHJbDbXLRQoFtyeaw), provided an update on the forward’s future.

He stated that United are ‘working’ on a new contract for the teenager after Ten Hag gave his approval.

### The Verdict: Brilliant news

Garnacho appears to be a future star and has already [impressed](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-united-garnacho-rayo-vallecano-24633504) under Ten Hag, so securing his services for the long run is a shrewd move.

The Argentine’s current [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alejandro-garnacho/profil/spieler/811779) expires in less than 12 months’ time, which would mean that he could discuss a pre-contract agreement elsewhere in the New Year, should his situation remain the same.

Hopefully the player’s future will be resolved by then, and who knows, Garnacho’s stock may rise even further between now and January if he makes the most of any game-time that he gets over the next few months.
