# Gary Neville’s tweet on Liverpool’s recent form

**Liverpool have struggled for form recently – and in the past few weeks have seen themselves ejected from both the [FA Cup](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fa-league-cups/chelsea-liverpool-kepa-arrizabalaga-frank-lampard-fa-cup-result-highlights-a9373516.html) and [Champions League](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/liverpool-vs-atletico-madrid-result-uefa-champions-league-2020-tonight-a9396016.html), leaving the Premier League their only contention for more silverware this season.**

Over the past few months, the Reds’ lead at the top of the table continued to grow and has now left them [25 points clear](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=79&ha=-1) of second-place Manchester City. This gulf in class and contention for Liverpool to win the treble prior to recent events – led to many [comparisons](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/10909786/liverpool-man-utd-arsenal-invincibles-unbearables/) of this Liverpool side and that of the Manchester United treble-winning team of 1998/99.

It is common knowledge in the footballing stratosphere that Gary Neville was a part of that treble-winning side, and it is also common knowledge that his opinions on Liverpool’s recent dip have been [broadcasted across his social media](https://www.90min.com/posts/6567909-gary-neville-explains-his-viral-champagne-video-in-celebration-of-liverpool-s-first-defeat).

To add insult to injury, a recent tweet from James Ducker – the Northern Football Correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, detailing the comparisons between the two sides – has prompted a response from Neville in spectacular emoji-inspired fashion.
