# Rangers: Gerrard makes Alfredo Morelos admission

**Steven Gerrard has admitted that there is no guarantee Alfredo Morelos will spend the whole of the season at Glasgow Rangers.**

### **Morelos could still leave**

Morelos was heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox during the summer, and was even said to have [agreed personal terms](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-transfer-rumours/glasgow-rangers-alfredo-morelos-reportedly-agrees-to-join-ligue-1-side-lille/) with Lille. However, he ended up staying with the Gers, despite [admitting](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/alfredo-morelos-is-open-to-summer-move-away-from-rangers-1595878220000#:~:text=Rangers%20striker%20Alfredo%20Morelos%20admits,opener%20at%20Aberdeen%20on%20Saturday.) that a move to a more prestigious league would interest him.

Speaking ahead of the 54-time Scottish champions’ clash against Lech Poznan on Thursday, Gerrard [admitted](https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/steven-gerrard-admits-there-is-no-guarantee-alfredo-morelos-will-see-out-the-season-at-rangers/ar-BB1au0tI) the Colombia international could depart. He said:

> *“I’m a little, tiny bit more certain about Alfredo in the short term. But are we out of the woods on that one? In Alfredo’s case, I have always been in the woods since day one here.*
>
> *“And I think I will remain in the woods while Alfredo’s here. I just manage Alfredo from day to day, week to week. He’s available now until January. I can’t predict the future beyond that.*
>
> *“We are happy to have him here. We need him back at his top level in terms of his form and scoring goals in the short term. That’s my only priority right now.”*

### **A blessing in disguise?**

On paper, this has not been the worst start to the season for Morelos. He has [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/338962) goals and three assists in his first 13 games in all competitions, for example. However, in reality, there are some worries for Gerrard. A number of his performances have been abysmal – he was [hammered](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/fans-slam-alfredo-morelos-ibrox/) by supporters for his display against Standard Liege last week – and he was even left out of the starting line-up for [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/leistungsdaten/spieler/338962) games in a row by his boss.

Morelos has been [linked](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/alfredo-morelos-given-rangers-transfer-22803117) with Al Duhail following the end of the transfer window in Europe, and a number of clubs were said to be interested during the summer, including [Marseille](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-new-rangers-transfer-twist-as-french-club-ready-big-money-offer/) and [AC Milan](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-7-times-cl-winners-contact-rangers-about-stunning-alfredo-morelos-deal/). Right now, though, his departure could be a blessing in disguise. Rangers already have Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe as alternative striking options, and the Gers must be aware that Morelos will leave at some point.

Currently valued at [£13.5m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/marktwertverlauf/spieler/338962) (Transfermarkt), the Gers previously set his price tag at [£20m](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/steven-gerrard-alfredo-morelos-warning-rangers-lille). If they could get anything close to that fee, it would represent a huge profit on the [£1.08m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/profil/spieler/338962) they paid to sign him. Perhaps an exit wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world after all.
