# Rangers: Fans flock to Gheorghe Hagi quotes

**Ianis Hagi’s father Gheorghe has said that his son is enjoying life at Rangers and has no intention of leaving Ibrox.**

Rangers paid [£3.15m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ianis-hagi/profil/spieler/282076) to sign the winger on a permanent deal from Genk ahead of the 2020/21 season following a loan spell in Glasgow in the previous campaign.

In all, the 23-year-old made [82 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ianis-hagi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/282076/verein/124) for the Gers, scoring 14 times and providing 21 assists.

### Was there a danger of Hagi leaving?

Hagi’s [£21,000-per-week](https://salarysport.com/football/scottish-premiership/rangers/) Rangers contract doesn’t expire until the end of the 2023/24 season, but that hasn’t stopped him being linked with a move away from Ibrox. Turkish outlet Sabah Spor reported at the end of last month (via [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ianis-hagi-rangers-transfer-exit-25570092)) that Galatasaray were to hold talks with the Gers over a potential transfer, with AS Roma [also said to be admirers](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ianis-hagi-roma-transfer-link-25060803).

However, in quotes relayed by Romanian journalist [Emanuel Rosu](https://twitter.com/Emishor/status/1473033136879677447), the player’s father has said that the 23-year-old is ‘staying with Rangers’ and that ‘he loves it there’.

Many Rangers fans flocked to Rosu’s tweet to express their delight at this news about their [‘magic’](https://twitter.com/Emishor/status/1434594167792017411) Romanian winger.
