# West Ham: Italian report claims Gianluca Scamacca is ‘beginning to divide’ supporters

**A bizarre report from the Italian media has claimed that [West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) summer signing Gianluca Scamacca is already ‘beginning to divide’ supporters.**

### The Lowdown: West Ham’s statements of intent…

The Irons displayed real statements of intent over the summer transfer window, sealing a plethora of impressive deals to showcase their ambition to stay among England’s elite.

David Moyes’ side managed to bring in [eight major signings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) in total with Alphonse Areola (loan made permanent), Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer, Emerson Palmieri and [club-record acquisition](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62695883) Lucas Paqueta all signing on the dotted line at the London Stadium.

However, the Hammers have had a slow start to their [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) campaign, sitting 18th in the table, while Scamacca has netted just [twice in seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gianluca-scamacca/leistungsdaten/spieler/315867) appearances, both goals coming in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

### The Latest: Report makes Scamacca claim involving supporters…

As a result, [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/scamacca-fa-fatica-i-tifosi-del-west-ham-si-dividono-vale-uno-za-60650) bizarrely claimed with a report on Friday evening that the 23-year-old is already ‘beginning to divide’ Irons supporters.

They state that the West Ham faithful have a ‘little less’ patience for their new striker than Moyes, and that it is Scamacca’s task to make them ‘change their minds’ with a sufficient goal return.

### The Verdict: Pinch of salt…

The pressure on new forwards to register goals and assists in a quick manner is greater than ever.

That being said, we’ve seen [little in the way](https://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiOgJuzlYz6AhVOTsAKHbntDjEQFnoECCcQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.londonworld.com%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Fwest-ham%2Fgianluca-scamacca-west-ham-defeat-to-manchester-city-3796801&usg=AOvVaw1SFaGi0Zzv91AGACSkVzWf) of criticism for Scamacca from supporters. In fact, his debut against Manchester City [prompted real excitement](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/west-ham-news-man-city-player-ratings-match-report-scamacca-whufc/), with the Italy international looking sharp against Pep Guardiola’s champions.

Having just returned to full fitness and still finding his feet in England, we believe that it’s only a matter of time before Scamacca starts finding the net regularly.

As explained by [talkSPORT pundit Lucy Ward,](https://www.westhamzone.com/transfers/talksport-pundit-raves-about-west-ham-united-signing-gianluca-scamacca/) the forward is ‘fast’, ‘skilful’ and ‘powerful’ – attributes which seem [tailor-made](https://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi4o5DPlYz6AhWQYsAKHarbBMQQFnoECDIQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Ftrainingground.guru%2Farticles%2Fwhich-is-the-most-physically-demanding-league&usg=AOvVaw3F04vIqax8BjUf3eADNFdo) for the English top flight.
