# Glasgow Rangers: Barry Ferguson urges Gers to sign Lyndon Dykes

**Ex-Glasgow Rangers legend Barry Ferguson believes that Lyndon Dykes would be a good signing for Steven Gerrard this summer transfer window.**

The 24-year-old has been [linked](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/lyndon-dykes-wanted-cardiff-city-22187832) with a move to Ibrox following an impressive campaign with Livingston that saw him score [nine](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lyndon-dykes/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/347138) goals and provide eight assists in 25 Scottish Premiership games. He is not the only striker linked, with others such as [Kemar Roofe](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5738683/rangers-interest-kemar-roofe-alfredo-morelos/) and [Ivan Toney](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-toney-has-revealed-plans-as-rangers-celtic-west-brom-circle/) mentioned, but Ferguson believes that the Australian would be a good option.

He told [PLZ Soccer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvV0GKdJ_iA&t=182s) when talking about where the Gers need to strengthen:

> *“Certainly somebody up front who is different from \[Alfredo\] Morelos and \[Jermain\] Defoe. I know Lyndon Dykes has been spoken about the last couple of days and If I am honest I do think he would be a good signing for Rangers.”\*

Morelos and Defoe are both natural goalscorers, having scored a huge [46](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glasgow-rangers/leistungsdaten/verein/124) goals between them in all competitions in the previous campaign before it was prematurely brought to an end. Dykes, meanwhile, clearly has more of a creative side to his game given the amount of assists he has racked up.

He is said to be valued at around [£1m](https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfer-news-dykes-4225151), which would be a drop in the ocean for the Gers for a player with real Premiership quality. It remains to be seen where he will end up.
