# Glasgow Rangers: Club sign Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe; could open possibility of Morelos exit

**Glasgow Rangers announced [two new signings](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53653208) on Tuesday. One was Cedric Itten, and the other was Kemar Roofe, and with these recent signings, it looks like the club are paving the way for an imminent departure.**

Itten, who is [23](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cedric-itten/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/243856/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) years-old, has signed on a [four year deal](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53653208), and Roofe, who is [27](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kemar-roofe/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/141350), has also agreed a [four year stay](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53653208) at Ibrox. Both the players are strikers, and with Jermain Defoe, who scored [13](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jermain-defoe/profil/spieler/3875) goals in the Scottish Premiership last season, out with a [hamstring injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jermain-defoe/profil/spieler/3875), the two signings were much needed.

However this is probably not the only reason they signed, as Alfredo Morelos has been [linked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11788/12036464/alfredo-morelos-rangers-striker-agrees-to-join-lille) with a move to Ligue 1 side Lille and the signings of Roofe and Itten could be a sign that the Colombian will be on his way out of Glasgow soon.

Sky Sports have [mentioned](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11788/12036464/alfredo-morelos-rangers-striker-agrees-to-join-lille) that personal terms have been [agreed](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11788/12036464/alfredo-morelos-rangers-striker-agrees-to-join-lille) between Morelos and Lille, whilst [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-rangers-advanced-talks-to-sell-morelos/) reported that the Gers are in advanced talks with Ligue 1 outfit to sell the [24 year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/profil/spieler/338962) for £17 million.

It is good that Steven Gerrard has reacted quickly to bring in new strikers with their current situation, and both Roofe and Itten look like very good acquisitions.

Former Leeds United forward Roofe had a decent season in Anderlecht, scoring [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kemar-roofe/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/141350) goals and picking up [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kemar-roofe/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/141350) assists in 16 appearances, whilst Itten made 36 appearances this season in the Swiss League, scoring 20 goals and providing 6 assists, per [Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cedric-itten/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/243856/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)

These stats highlight that they both can be very clinical on their day, and in a strong SPFL team, proven by the fact that the Gers finished [second](https://www.google.com/search?q=spfl+table+2019%2F20+season&oq=spfl+&aqs=chrome.1.69i59l3j69i57j69i60l4.2154j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=lg;/g/11fk16s9q5;2;/m/0wdrhw4;st;fp;1;;) in the division last season, they could be a real menace for their opponents. They seem like good acquisitions and clearly they have been scouted a lot by the club as they were signed pretty quickly.

Obviously Morelos, who joined for £1.08m, will be a big loss – his 77 goals for the club in 138 appearances, per [Transfermarkt,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/profil/spieler/338962) highlight this – but Gerrard bringing in a couple of clinical forwards so soon to replace him is a great bit of business.
