# Glasgow Rangers: Fans delighted as club announce new signing Calvin Bassey

**Glasgow Rangers have already been busy ahead of the 2020/21 season by signing [Ianis Hagi](https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-sign-ianis-hagi/).**

After arriving on loan from Genk in January, the Romania international impressed during his short loan spell before the Scottish Premiership was brought to an abrupt halt, as he scored [three goals in 12 games](https://twitter.com/RangersFC/status/1269308175892844544) for the Gers, including a brace against Braga in the Europa League.

Hagi will reunite with Steven Gerrard’s squad when the team return for training ahead of completing a permanent move for [£3m](https://twitter.com/RangersFC/status/1269308175892844544) in the summer.

Now, [the club](https://twitter.com/RangersFC/status/1269308175892844544) has announced Calvin Bassey has signed a pre-contract to join Rangers from Leicester City and he will move to Ibrox when the transfer window opens.

The 20-year-old has agreed a [four-year-contract](https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-sign-calvin-bassey/) with the Light Blues and he can play as a left-back or centre-back, so the board will be hoping his versatility can make a vital difference in the future.

His arrival marks Gerrard’s third signing of the summer, following the announcement that [Charlie Lindsay](https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/rangers-sign-charlie-lindsay/#:~:text=RANGERS%20are%20delighted%20to%20announce,Alkass%20tournament%20earlier%20this%20year.) has joined the club from Glentoran.

Unsurprisingly, the Gers fans have been reacting to the “excellent” transfer news on social media, with one supporter tweeting it is “absolutely fantastic.” Meanwhile, a third described Bassey, who stands at just under 6’0″ tall, as an “absolute unit.”
