# Glasgow Rangers: Hutton tips Gers to make two more loan signings

**Alan Hutton has [told Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-tipped-to-sign-two-english-league-players-from-next-week-ibrox-exclusive/) that he believes that Glasgow Rangers will make another couple of loan signings this summer when the English transfer window opens.**

The Gers have already brought in three players, with [Ianis Hagi](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52796014), [Jon McLaughlin](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5733610/rangers-confirm-sign-hearts-jon-mclaughlin/) and [Calvin Bassey](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52951554#:~:text=Defender%20Calvin%20Bassey%20has%20signed,back%20and%20in%20central%20defence.) all joining on a permanent basis, but the Ibrox outfit will need to add more to their current squad if they are to win a first piece of major silverware since 2011 this summer.

Hutton believes that Steven Gerrard will make use of his knowledge of the English market, and thinks two more short-term transfers could be completed. He said:

*“It is a great start for them.*

*“They can take a lot of confidence from that and what the did last year, how close they ran Celtic.*

*“Steven has used the loan system in England very cleverly before and I suspect we will see another couple of additions coming in once the English transfer window opens.*

*“I really do believe they will run Celtic close this year.”*

Of course, loan signings would be better than nothing, but short-term deals are not exactly the best solution. Whilst that may give Gerrard the opportunity to bring in some top talent for a season, players are not always committed to the cause when they know they will not be at the club for more than a year.

A couple of loans would arguably be underwhelming for Rangers, especially given they have been linked with some exciting talent such as Kemar Roofe of late ([Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5754050/rangers-kemar-roofe-loan-option-buy/)).

Gerrard and Ross Wilson will surely need to do more than that if they are to reach their goals this season.
