# Glasgow Rangers: Alan Hutton discusses Gers’ “absolutely massive” call

**Alan Hutton says it is “absolutely massive” from Glasgow Rangers to turn down a bid of £17m for Alfredo Morelos from Lille.**

The Colombia international has been linked with a move away this summer, and the Ligue 1 side appear to be the likeliest destination – les Dogues and the 24-year-old have [reportedly](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-transfer-rumours/glasgow-rangers-alfredo-morelos-reportedly-agrees-to-join-ligue-1-side-lille/) agreed personal terms, with it now up to the clubs to come to an agreement over a fee.

As per sources in France ([via The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/alfredo-morelos-committed-rangers-lille-22499427)), the Gers have turned down a £17m bid for the star forward, and Hutton believes that is a huge call from the Ibrox outfit. He [told Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/absolutely-massive-exclusive-hutton-reacts-to-huge-rangers-transfer-report/):

*“It’s absolutely massive considering you’ve bought him for £1million.*

*“To be offered £17million is a huge jump but look, they see him as the prize asset and they believe, in their eyes, that he’s worth a lot more so they’re in a strong position.*

*“They don’t have to sell him, he’s on a long-term contract at Rangers, probably a very good one so they don’t have to sell him. Unless their valuation is met, they’re not going to move forward with it.*

*“It’s a shame for Morelos if he wants to go and try somewhere else but at the end of day he’s signed a deal, he’s there for X number of years and he has to fulfil that.”*

As Hutton says, it is a big call from the Gers, but clearly they have a strong idea of exactly what their star man is worth. After all, he has [79](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/338962) goals in 141 games, and has become one of Steven Gerrard’s best players – he is not a player they can afford to undersell.

It remains to be seen whether he does move on this summer, and it will be interesting to see whether the 54-time Scottish champions’ mindset does change.
