# Glasgow Rangers: Lovenkrands compares Nathan Patterson to Alan Hutton

**Peter Lovenkrands has [told The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/peter-lovenkrands-names-3-rangers-22385376) that Glasgow Rangers youngster Nathan Patterson reminds him of Alan Hutton.**

The 18-year-old is highly rated at Ibrox, and has so far made [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-patterson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/424015) appearance for the Gers at a professional level – he travelled with the team for the Veolia Trophy and featured during the pre-season tournament, as well. Hutton, meanwhile, spent six years at the club, and was even nicknamed the “Scottish Cafu” – he is a hero for the 54-time Scottish champions.

Lovenkrands can see some of the now retired full-back in Patterson, saying:

*“I have said before that I look at him like Alan Hutton – he has the same style of play, the same build, the same athletic ability to get up and down at speed.*

*“I’m still good friends with Alan and I always say to him ‘he’s just like you’.*

*“I’m very excited about Nathan. He could be very, very good.”*

These are big words from a man who is in the know when it comes to the younger talents at the club – the former Denmark international was, [until recently](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/peter-lovenkrands-leaves-rangers-ross-22280165#:~:text=Peter%20Lovenkrands%20has%20departed%20Rangers,time%20deal%20a%20year%20later.), part of the coaching staff at the academy and was therefore training with the likes of Patterson day in, day out.

Of course, he has a long way to go to achieve the same kind of success as Hutton, who left for [£9m](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51559632#:~:text=But%20the%20'Scottish%20Cafu'%20has,the%20Glasgow%20club's%20record%20sale.) in 2008 – that is still a club record fee to this day. But this does indicate, at least, that he has the talent to really do well in the game.
