# Glasgow Rangers: Ivan Toney completes Brentford move

**Glasgow Rangers have missed out on Ivan Toney, who has [completed](https://twitter.com/SkySportsNews/status/1300346263356014592?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) a move to Brentford.**

The Gers had been [linked](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-toney-has-revealed-plans-as-rangers-celtic-west-brom-circle/) with the striker, who previously played for Peterborough. The 24-year-old was in stunning form for Posh last season, scoring [26](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ivan-toney/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/251664) goals in all competitions, despite the League One term being brought to a premature close due to the current pandemic.

Now, though, it has been confirmed that he has made a switch to the Championship club, with the Bees paying [£5m](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12060116/ivan-toney-completes-brentford-medical-ahead-of-move-from-peterborough#:~:text=Ivan%20Toney%20has%20completed%20a,a%20maximum%20of%20%C2%A310m.) for his services – the fee could rise to £10m with add-ons.

Of course, this is a blow for the Gers – Toney has proven himself to be a lethal striker, albeit at a lower level, and £5m is far from extortionate. However, Steven Gerrard has already managed to bring in [Cedric Itten](https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/rangers-sign-cedric-itten/mZ5KBtSmYsrHAgmykjGrf#:~:text=RANGERS%20are%20delighted%20to%20confirm,scoring%20in%20his%20home%20nation.) and [Kemar Roofe](https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/rangers-sign-kemar-roofe/3JOQ8m4TAjUgzKBAnMkocR) during this transfer window as he prepares for life without Alfredo Morelos – he has already planned ahead.

Still, he will likely have an eye on how Toney deals with the step up in quality in the English second tier.
