# Glasgow Rangers: Kris Boyd does not think Lyle Taylor or Lyndon Dykes could replace Alfredo Morelos

**Kris Boyd has questioned whether [Lyle Taylor](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/rangers-launch-lyle-taylor-transfer-22123473) or [Lyndon Dykes](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/lyndon-dykes-wanted-cardiff-city-22187832) are good enough for Glasgow Rangers.**

The two strikers have been linked with moves to Ibrox over the past few weeks as speculation around Alfredo Morelos’ future [continues](https://www.footballinsider247.com/ibrox-sources-big-update-on-rangers-striker-pursuit-keeping-morelos/). Taylor scored [11](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lyle-taylor/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/104495) goals in 22 English Championship games for Charlton before he [ruled himself out](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11684/11998549/lyle-taylor-among-charlton-players-who-will-refuse-to-play-upon-championship-resumption) of the rest of the season as he looks for a move, whilst Dykes scored [nine](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lyndon-dykes/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/347138) times and provided eight assists in 25 Scottish Premiership matches for Livingston.

Morelos, who signed for the club in 2017 for [£1.08m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/transfers/spieler/338962), managed [29](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/338962) goals in all competitions in 2019/20 before the season was prematurely ended, and Boyd does not feel that he can be replaced by either of those options. He [told The Sunday Post](https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/interview-kris-boyd-on-striker-conundrum-for-rangers-boss-steven-gerrard-charity-fundraising-and-half-marathon-training/):

> *“I understand Rangers being linked with strikers such as Lyle Taylor of Charlton and Livingston’s Lyndon Dykes.*

> *“They have both caught the eye in recent times, and I’m sure they would be good additions. They have different qualities and both know the way to goal.*

> *“But I wonder if either is good enough to be lined up as a direct replacement for Morelos, with an expectation of scoring in excess of 20 goals a season.”*

In all fairness to [£1.26m-valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lyle-taylor/marktwertverlauf/spieler/104495) Taylor, he has been a regular threat in front on goal in recent years, managing 35 strikes in the previous two full league campaigns combined. However, those goals came in the lower leagues – whether he could do it for Rangers is another matter.

Dykes – who has a [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lyndon-dykes/marktwertverlauf/spieler/347138) valuation of £428,000 – has at least proved a threat in the Scottish top flight, but 12 goals in all competitions is not exactly on Morelos’ level. You would have to agree with Boyd – it is unlikely they would be able to cover for, or adequately replace, the Colombia international.
