# Glasgow Rangers: Kevin Phillips predicts Alfredo Morelos departure

**Kevin Phillips has [told Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-kevin-phillips-claims-rangers-first-teamer-wont-be-at-ibrox-when-window-shuts/) that it is only a matter of time until Alfredo Morelos leaves Glasgow Rangers.**

The Colombia international has been continually linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, with it even being reported that he has [agreed personal terms](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-transfer-rumours/glasgow-rangers-alfredo-morelos-reportedly-agrees-to-join-ligue-1-side-lille/) with Lille. Despite the speculation, though, the 24-year-old still started against St Mirren on Sunday, with him scoring twice in a 3-0 victory.

However, Phillips does not believe that this will lead to him staying at the club in the long-term. He explained:

> *“I would say it is only a matter of time.*
>
> *“I would imagine there is a lot going on in the background. You do not make two signings like that unless something is happening.*
>
> *“I would not be surprised if he moves on in the next week or so. Whether that be to a Premier League or abroad I do not know.*
>
> *“I would not say that his days are numbered but I do not imagine he will be a Rangers player at the end of this transfer window.”*

In all fairness, this is not much of a shocking prediction – it appears increasingly unlikely that the ‘Gers will be able to hold on to their star striker. After all, he has scored [79](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/338962) goals in 140 matches since joining the 54-time Scottish champions for [£1.08m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/profil/spieler/338962) in 2017.

Lille look to be the favourites to capture his services, and it appears that Steven Gerrard has already looked to replace him with the signings of [Kemar Roofe](https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/rangers-sign-kemar-roofe/3JOQ8m4TAjUgzKBAnMkocR) and [Cedric Itten](https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/rangers-sign-cedric-itten/mZ5KBtSmYsrHAgmykjGrf#:~:text=RANGERS%20are%20delighted%20to%20confirm,scoring%20in%20his%20home%20nation.). As important as Morelos has been, it looks as if the ‘Gers will need to plan for a future without him.
