# Glasgow Rangers: Report suggests Gers should make loan move for Harvey Elliott

**[The Daily Record has suggested](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/final-rangers-transfer-flourishes-steven-22619006) that Glasgow Rangers should make a loan for Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott due to Steven Gerrard’s previous connections at the club.**

Gerrard has already made use of his former ties on Merseyside – Ryan Kent first joined on loan and has now made the switch permanent, whilst Sheyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria have also appeared for the 54-time Scottish champions during the 40-year-old’s spell in Scotland.

The Record have now suggested that Gerrard should look to Elliott to be the next Red to continue his development north of the border. They said:

*“It’s unlikely that a Curtis Jones or Rhian Brewster would head north but perhaps even a younger player like Harvey Elliott – who played just six minutes of English Premier League football last season – could be allowed to head out of the club and Gerrard could use his contacts there.”*

At just 17 years old, Elliott is only just starting out on his career in football, but he has already made an impact at Anfield. He appeared in [all of the club’s FA Cup and League Cup matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/565822) last term, whilst he also made two appearances in the Premier League.

Currently valued at [£3.24m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/marktwertverlauf/spieler/565822) by Transfermarkt, it would be almost impossible for the Gers to sign him permanently – he is clearly highly-rated by Jurgen Klopp and co – but there have been enough flashes of his ability to indicate that he could help the 54-time Scottish champions on a short-term basis. As the Gers go in search of a first major trophy since 2011 this campaign, they need all the help they can get.
