# ‘Going nowhere but backwards’, ‘Disrespectful’ – Man United fans fume on Twitter at key figure

**Man United have made a superb start to the season and the Old Trafford faithful in the Transfer Tavern are understandably excited by their club’s prospects this year.**

Having endured an underwhelming first Premier League campaign in the United hot-seat- although they enjoyed two cup wins with their Europe League success gaining them Champions League football- manager Jose Mourinho invested heavily in the transfer market to lure talents such as Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic to Manchester. Indeed, the result has been a much-improved side potentially capable of lifting the title, with Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Liverpool making it eight domestic games unbeaten and just two goals conceded in that period.

These are auspicious times for our resident United fans in the bar ahead of a European clash at Benfica on Wednesday but Jose Mourinho- a man renowned for his controversial comments over the years- has left his loyal supporters bemused by his latest outburst. Speaking to [*TF1’s Telefoot*](https://www.tf1.fr/tf1/telefoot/videos/40-ans-telefoot-jose-mourinho-finirai-a-manchester.html) programme, the former Chelsea gaffer said, “I’m sure I won’t end my career here”- in response to whether he could one day manage French financial power-house Paris Saint-Germain.

Man U fans were generally shocked at this comment and here’s how they reacted on Twitter…

> The fact that Mourinho is even thinking about leaving United sickens me. If he leaves United he is going nowhere but backwards, we are the biggest club in the world. Fact.

> I would have no respect for Mourinho if he ends up leaving the United job before giving 5 proper years. The club has fully backed him.
