# Chelsea make promise to move for Goncalo Ramos

**[Chelsea](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-news/) have made a promise to bring Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos to the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) this summer, according to reports.**

### The Lowdown: Aubameyang replacement?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently facing an uncertain future having been heavily [linked](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11626763/Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang-DESPERATE-quit-Chelsea-willing-play-FREE.html) with an exit in January, so [Graham Potter](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/graham-potter/) needs to bolster his attacking ranks should the forward depart at the end of the term.

Ramos, a Portugal international, [reportedly](https://www.90min.com/posts/areas-chelsea-must-address-january-transfer-window-2023) emerged as a target for the Blues last month, and despite a deal failing to materialise, it sounds like Todd Boehly has since vowed to make a serious approach.

### The Latest: Chelsea eyeing Ramos

According to Correio da Manha (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/chelsea-promise-return-19-goal-striker-summer-tried-cheeky-january-talks/)), Chelsea ‘will advance’ on a deal for Ramos this summer and have made a ‘promise’ to attempt to secure his services.

The Stamford Bridge outfit tried to get the ‘preference’ over the 21-year-old when signing his former teammate Enzo Fernandez, but Benfica declined the move.

The 6 foot 1 forward has a €120m (£105m) release clause included in his deal, but it’s claimed that his club would only demand a minimum fee of €100m (£88m) to let him go.

### The Verdict: Splash the cash

Ramos has been [dubbed](https://twitter.com/ftalentscout/status/1554579496421957632?s=46&t=Tkp3RkLRvIkpiLr_rHg5Ug) a ‘lethal’ striker by talent scout [Jacek Kulig](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout) and Chelsea should definitely splash out should the opportunity to sign him arise in the months ahead.

The [Nike-sponsored](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/profil/spieler/550550) star has had a remarkable return so far this season having recorded 13 goals and four assists in just [17](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdaten/spieler/550550) Liga Portugal appearances.

The Olhao native is also averaging a whopping [3.5](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/395802/Show/Gon%C3%A7alo-Ramos) shots per league game and ranks in the [98th](https://fbref.com/en/players/f63cda26/Goncalo-Ramos) percentile for non-penalty expected goals and non-penalty expected goals plus assisted goals.

Ramos is the exact profile of clinical centre-forward that Potter has been missing so would be the perfect candidate to put pen to paper in SW6 ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
