# Good news for Tottenham fans with club reportedly confident of £30m deal

**Yet to make any signings at all, the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see movement made on that front as soon as possible.**

While the local Lillywhites propping up our bar do believe their first-team is good enough to battle the Premier League’s elite, they would like to see some reinforcements brought in to aid their cause.

With that in mind, a story from [Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2722758-why-ross-barkley-is-likely-to-join-tottenham?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-UK) has gone down a storm today. Dean Jones has shed some insight onto the club’s reported chase for Everton and England midfielder, Ross Barkley.

The 23-year-old has been [linked](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/4028816/tottenham-want-move-ross-barkley-sealed-before-leaving-us-tour-half-evertons-valuation/) with a move to Hotspur Way though the Toffees are [understood](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2722758-why-ross-barkley-is-likely-to-join-tottenham?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-UK) to be asking for a whopping £50m. Now, according to this [report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2722758-why-ross-barkley-is-likely-to-join-tottenham?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-UK), Spurs are the [front runners](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2722758-why-ross-barkley-is-likely-to-join-tottenham?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-UK) when it comes to taking Barkley away from Goodison Park, despite recent [links](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/07/19/chelsea-manchester-united-wait-wings-astottenham-wait-ross-barkley/) with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino is [reportedly](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2722758-why-ross-barkley-is-likely-to-join-tottenham?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-UK) a big fan of the creative midfielder, though sources close to Tottenham are [said](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2722758-why-ross-barkley-is-likely-to-join-tottenham?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-UK) to think the player will be available for around £30m towards the end of the window.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman [recently revealed](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jul/26/ross-barkley-leave-everton-ronald-koeman) the player would be sold after snubbing a new deal and Spurs are thought to be in command of the situation. As you can imagine, despite Barkley’s inconsistency, this is very good news for our resident Spurs fans.

**Landlord’s Verdict**

Barkley’s next move is vitally important. Though clearly a talented player, he’s stagnated somewhat on Merseyside and doesn’t look like embarking on the upward trajectory predicted for him by so many.

A move to Tottenham could change all that. While he wouldn’t instantly command a starting berth, Pochettino boasts a wonderful record when working with English talent and could potentially unlock his huge potential.

**Thoughts?**
