# Arsenal: Fans elated after club are linked with move for Ligue 1 defender

**Arsenal fans were feeling elated after the club were linked with a move for a Ligue 1 defender.**

According to [Mark Irwin](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/10893764/gabriel-magalhaes-arsenal-lille-transfer-bid/), the Gunners are interested in making a move for Lille centre-half Gabriel Magalhães in the summer with Edu Gaspar having already held talks with the French side. If a transfer was to happen, he would be the second player to join the club from the French team after Nicolas Pepe made a [£72m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49197553) move last summer.

One fan described the player as a ‘beast’.

The [22-year-old](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/334087/Show/Gabriel) has enjoyed a fantastic campaign in France and averages the joint-least number of fouls per game (0.8), of players to have started more than one game, when compared to [Mikel Arteta’s men](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Show/England-Arsenal). Fans are certain the Brazil youth international is the right option for the club as they took to Twitter to react to the reports. Here is a selection of tweets from the Emirates Stadium faithful:
