# Haggerty: Celtic fans want Christie to stay at Celtic Park

**[The Celtic Way](https://www.celticway.co.uk/) writer Tony Haggerty believes that manager Ange Postecoglou is getting a tune out of Ryan Christie and the Celtic supporters want him to stay this summer as a result.**

The 26-year-old midfielder has [one goal and three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-christie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/188077/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) to his name already this season. Since an opening day defeat to Hearts, Celtic have won [6-0](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-christie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/188077/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) in back-to-back games against Dundee and St. Mirren.

The [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ryan-christie-burnley-transfer-option-24814682) reported that Burnley remain keen on Christie before the transfer window closes but Haggerty says that Celtic supporters want him to stay at Celtic Park this summer, telling Transfer Tavern: *“The great thing about Ange Postecoglou is he’s managed to get a tune out of Ryan Christie despite the fact his contract is running down.*

*“The Celtic supporters are clamouring for Ryan Christie to stay and for Celtic to have that conversation.”*

Christie only has a few months left on his current Celtic contract, which runs until [Jan 1, 2022](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-christie/profil/spieler/188077), with the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ryan-christie-burnley-transfer-option-24814682) also reporting that Postecoglou has said that he would like Celtic to get Christie tied down to a new contract.

After turning around their fortunes in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic travel to AZ Alkmaar for their Europa League qualifying play-off second leg on Thursday. The Hoops travel to the Netherlands with a 2-0 lead and will be hoping to complete the job and get into the Europa League group stages.
