The build-up to the Champions League final has begun, and they confirmed their entry into the competition next season with a win over Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season.*** Indeed, things couldn’t be going much better for the Reds at the moment, but unfortunately for them, they’ve received some bad news this week. [According to the Liverpool Echo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is now not due back until November, with his injury layoff now expected to be longer than first thought at a full six months.](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-suffer-further-alex-oxlade-14655067) Fans were hoping that a summer off would allow him to be ready for the start of next season, but now that’s looking increasingly unlikely. Instead, a return at the start of the next calender year – 2019 – is more likely – especially given how long he will have to work on his match fitness for. He’s been a crucial player for the Reds this season, having emerged as one of their most important midfielders alongside the likes of Jordan Henderson and Emre Can. [Unsurprisingly, news of a delayed return has come as a blow to the Liverpool fans over on Reddit. They’ve been taking to the platform to discuss it, and it’s fair to say that they’re very sad indeed.](https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/8jbhkx/oxladechamberlain_expected_to_be_sidelined_for/) Take a look at what they’ve had to say below… [Comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/8jbhkx/oxladechamberlain_expected_to_be_sidelined_for/dyychk6/) from discussion [Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to be sidelined for six months… #LFC](https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/8jbhkx/oxladechamberlain_expected_to_be_sidelined_for/).
