# Rangers: Alan Hutton praises Glen Kamara

**Former Glasgow Rangers man Alan Hutton says the signing of Glen Kamara ranks alongside that of James Tavernier.**

### **Special praise for Kamara**

Kamara has been in fantastic form for Rangers recently, especially in the Old Firm against Celtic. The 24-year-old managed a SofaScore rating of [7.2](https://www.sofascore.com/celtic-rangers/bXscX), with him winning eight from 12 duels and racking up a 75% dribble success rate.

He was signed for just [£50,000](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-signing-glen-kamara-50k-15008928) from Dundee last January, and Hutton believes it is a deal that ranks up there with the best. He [told Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-hutton-wowed-by-rangers-bargain-on-a-par-with-tavernier-deal/):

> *“I mean, it’s probably one of the best bits of business along with James Tavernier. I think to get a fantastic player for so cheap, he’s really grown in stature.*
>
> *“He’s been schooled in the Arsenal way, technically he’s very good, he’s fitted in like a glove and now we’re seeing the best of him, he seems really confident, he really believes in what he’s doing.*
>
> *“He’s just really playing at such a high level at the moment and it really doesn’t surprise me that teams have been looking at him and I do believe there’s more to come. I’m really looking forward to watching him in the upcoming season.”*

### **Tavernier and Kamara are two of the best**

Looking back at it now, the signing of Kamara was inspired by Steven Gerrard. The Finland international has missed just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glen-kamara/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/242632) from a possible 14 games in all competitions so far this term, and was even the subject of [€10m](https://www.francefootball.fr/news/Mercato-glen-kamara-glasgow-rangers-plait-a-l-om/1132857) (£9.1m) interest from Marseille earlier this year. In a short amount of time, he has become a hugely important member of the Liverpool legend’s [Rangers’](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/) squad.

The signing of Tavernier was also mightily impressive. He made the move to Ibrox from Wigan in 2015 for [£225,000](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tavernier/profil/spieler/62094), and he has ended up becoming captain. Going forward, he is a force to be reckoned with, having amassed [54](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tavernier/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/62094) goals and 79 assists in 257 games. It is easy to forget he is only a right-back.

There is no doubt about it – these two bits of business were genius, with [meticulous planning from former DoF Mark Allen](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/3751537/mark-allen-steven-gerrard-rangers-blueprint-premiership-best-players-ibrox/) leading to such astute buys. They should actually be the blueprint for Ross Wilson and co moving forward.
