# If Only: 6 of the funniest Man United fan reactions to Mourinho’s Rooney chase

**Despite progressing into the next round of the EFL Cup, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are far from dancing on the tables and ordering champagne on ice.**

It’s been a dreadful few weeks for the Red Devils, who had lost three games on the bounce prior to their victory over the Cobblers.

One of the major sources of frustration for the Old Trafford faithful has been the form of Wayne Rooney, who continues to be handed a starting berth by Jose Mourinho.

[Rumours today](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3802820/Jose-Mourinho-tried-like-crazy-sign-Wayne-Rooney-Chelsea-Real-Madrid-huge-fan-man-jokingly-named-Fat-Boy.html) have emerged suggesting the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ was desperate to land the England skipper while in charge of both Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Now, thanks to his recent displays, the United fans on Twitter have been rather vocal in their wishing the Portuguese had been successful in his attempts to land the former Everton prodigy.

Included are **SIX** of the best reactions to the missed opportunity to sell Rooney.
