# If Ramsey doesn’t sign a new Arsenal deal, these are the 2 replacements they should seek

**It has been a tough start in the Premier League for Arsenal this season, facing Manchester City and Chelsea in their opening two fixtures.**

Aaron Ramsey is a player who has a poor track record when it comes to injuries. Ramsey saw his first taste of action in the 2018/19 season, coming on a substitute for Mesut Ozil in the second half in Arsenal’s 3-2 loss at Stamford Bridge.

[The 27-year-old Ramsey has just 12 months remaining on his contract](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/unai-emery-aaron-ramseys-contract-13062217), but he seems no closer to signing a new deal to keep him at the Emirates.

With that in mind, here are two replacements Arsenal should seek if they do lose the Welshman….

## Georginio Wijnaldum

Considering the level of talent in the Liverpool midfield, the Anfield outfit may be open to offers for Wijnaldum.

[The Dutchman is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/profil/spieler/49499). He could be the perfect candidate for a creative midfielder to replace the talents of Aaron Ramsey. Considering Liverpool have a midfield containing the likes of Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Wijnaldum might start to see his opportunities limited.

The midfielder has a great pedigree, and could become a real force in the Arsenal midfield if given the opportunity. He is certainly a target Arsenal should consider.

## Kevin Strootman

Another Dutchman, Strootman could offer some defensive solidity, whereas Ramsey was a more attacking player. Strootman could contribute to making Arsenal a team which is tougher to break down than they are currently.

He also has a great range of passing range, who could contribute in a creative sense to the Arsenal side. His effort and commitment to his team is something that can never be questioned, which might be a breath of fresh air for the Emirates outfit.

[The 28-year-old is valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kevin-strootman/profil/spieler/68864), and has a contract which runs until 2022, he would not be a cheap option, but he would be an effective option to replace Ramsey.
