As per the club’s official [website](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2460411), the midfielder has sustained a groin injury from their 1-0 loss at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday and will begin treatment at USM Finch Farm.

This is not the first time that the 29-year-old has suffered a bad injury this season, and on that occasion it sent lots of Everton supporters into [meltdown](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/injury-news-abdoulaye-doucoure-premier-league/). Given their [current position](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) in the Premier League table, they are again fearing the worst.

Doucoure is ranked as the Toffees’ fourth-best player of the campaign by [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/31/Show/England-Everton) and has ranked highly among his team-mates in terms of average tackles, shots, dribbles and passes per game in the top flight, while also recording the most assists. What a blow it would be if the Frenchman is out for another prolonged period of time.
