The Fratton Park outfit have been one of the most impressive teams in England’s third tier, having lost just three of their 26 league games so far.
However, things could arguably get better for the south coast side as one man could be about to get his Portsmouth career started after a challenging first six months.
Andre Green joined the League One side on loan from Aston Villa in the summer but has struggled to make a real impact.
Valued at £900k by Transermarkt, his time at Fratton Park has been blighted with injuries, which has seen him make just five appearances in the division so far – playing less than an hour’s worth of football in the competition.
The 20-year-old is an exciting talent and has started to show what he can offer Pompey with his performances from the substitutes bench.
The England Under-20 international has come up with a number of crucial goals across all competitions recently, including the last-minute winner against Norwich City in the FA Cup third round at Carrow Road on the weekend.
Those at Fratton Park will be keen to see Green come into his element and kick on with his displays as the season reaches the business end of the year.
With the likes of Luton and Sunderland chasing their tail, any possible slip up Portsmouth suffer could prove to be costly.
However, with Green in the side and starting to find his feet away from Aston Villa, the possibility of playing Championship football next season could become a reality for Jackett’s side.
