Introducing: Charlton’s deadly duo – Lyle Taylor and Karlan Grant - Introducing

Charlton Athletic certainly appear to enjoy playing under the guidance of Lee Bowyer.

Ever since the club’s former midfielder arrived as their manager, whether it be in a caretaker role or as the permanent boss, they always look to be within touching distance of playing in the Championship.

The 41-year-old led The Valley outfit to the playoffs last season once he took over from Karl Robinson, however, they lost to Shrewsbury Town in the semi-finals.

This season, he has currently guided his side to a playoff spot once again and look good value to be in and amongst those challenging to play their football in England’s second tier in the next campaign.

The Addicks have conceded just 22 times so far, although that number could be a lot lower if it were not for mistakes and injuries to the back line, however, they have not struggled to find the back of their opponents net.

Charlton have registered 31 goals this season with a deadly duo on form and those men could be the stars to help them achieve their long-awaited promotion back to the Championship.

Lyle Taylor and Karlan Grant have run the show and become a deadly duo when it comes to goalscoring for the Addicks in League One.

The former AFC Wimbledon man, who joined in the summer, has netted nine goals in his 18 league appearances, whilst his partner in crime has hit 10 in his 19 appearances.

Although the pair do not always play together from the start, both have been crucial to Bowyer’s side and where they currently find themselves in the League One table.

The likes of Igor Vetokele, Jamie Ward and Nicky Ajose all contribute on the pitch as well, but it is clear that Taylor and Grant are important to their efforts.

Taylor, who is captain of the Montserrat national side, is a proven goalscorer within the Football League having shone during his time at Kingsmeadow with Wimbledon.

Grant is still only 21-years-old and looks to be another one to have come off the talented production line from the Charlton academy.

If the Addicks are to be within in contention of playing Championship football next season, then these two men will have a real influence in trying to make that happen.
