Ever since Steve Bruce was named as the manager of Sheffield Wednesday, things appear to have gotten better for the Yorkshire outfit.
The Owls have played six games so far under their new management team and have won three of those matches, with their only defeats coming against Chelsea and Hull City.
Three of those matches have come in the Championship and the Hillsborough outfit have managed to take six points from a possible nine with two clean sheets in the process as well.
With the league the main priority, Sheffield Wednesday currently sit in the bottom half but know that they are only nine points away from a playoff spot, whilst they are 13 points clear from relegation.
Bruce made a number of additions on Deadline Day in the January transfer window to bolster his squad, however, he may have already made one of the club’s best acquisitions in years.
One of those additions was Dominic Iorfa who joined Sheffield Wednesday from Wolverhampton Wanderers late on Thursday on a permanent deal.
The defender signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the club and should be considered a coup for the Hillsborough outfit.
The 23-year-old has shown in the past that he is capable of playing at the Championship level, having helped Wolves win promotion from the division last season.
However, he has been on the fringes of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the Premier League and a move this winter was always likely.
Now a Wednesdaynite, Iorfa will have the chance to shine in the back line for the club as they look to turn things around in the Championship.
It would not be a surprise to see him in the side against Reading at the weekend alongside Michael Hector, who has also been a star for The Owls this season during his loan spell from Chelsea.
His experience will be a huge lift to the club and one that should help them keep more clean sheets in the future and help them to climb back up the division.
The fact that he was brought in on a permanent deal must also be a real reason as to why Bruce may have conducted one of Sheffield Wednesday’s best transfers in years.
