Sheffield Wednesday were sent back down to earth with a bang at the weekend when they were beaten 3-0 by Hull City.
The arrival of Steve Bruce – who does not officially take over until the 1st February – appeared to have given The Owls a new bounce in their step.
Wednesday managed to turn things around and put together a couple of impressive results, however, their defeat to The Tigers will have shown that some work will be needed to be done in the January transfer window.
One area that should be of concern is in defence, as the Owls are the second worst team in the Championship when it comes to keeping the goals out of their net.
And, one man who has recently become a free agent could be the answer to helping the club stop those leaks and help them climb back up the table.
Efe Ambrose is looking for a new employer after terminating his contract at Hibernian and Hillsborough could be the ideal destination for him.
The Nigeria international is vastly experienced and a move to England could be exactly what the 30-year-old needs to keep his career going.
Having featured in the Champions League for Celtic numerous times, he would certainly bring a sense of knowledge and leadership to the Yorkshire outfit that they are so desperately in need of.
Bruce appears to have used a particular model of having experienced men in his back line wherever he has managed and that seems to have paid off at times.
John Terry and Christopher Samba were both used during his time at Aston Villa last season as they helped get the club to be within 90 minutes of Premier League football.
With Financial Fair Play regulations thought to be a concern for The Owls, a deal for Ambrose would surely make sense and should be considered too good to pass on.
