Introducing: Efe Ambrose to save Plymouth’s League One status

Plymouth Argyle are in dire need of a defender or two this January as they find themselves in trouble at the bottom of League One.

The Home Park outfit are sitting just above fellow strugglers AFC Wimbledon, however, the number of goals they have conceded so far will surely be alarming.

Derek Adams’ side have shipped 47 goals already this season – with just Rochdale and Scunthorpe United having seen more go against them.

The Pilgrims know things will need to significantly improve on all areas of the field, however, one man that has recently become a free agent could be the man to help them retain their status in League One.

Efe Ambrose has just terminated his contract with Hibernian and Plymouth have been linked with a potential move.

The 30-year-old is a vastly experienced defender that has played at the top levels of the game, which could make him appear to be an ambitious addition.

Having represented Celtic in the Champions League and Nigeria at international level, Ambrose would be a real coup for a side in League One, regardless of where Plymouth currently find themselves in.

However, a player of his ability and quality is likely to attract plenty of interest from clubs around the globe bigger than the League One outfit.

There is no doubt that his addition would be great for the club and their chances of remaining within the third tier, but in all honesty, it would be a move to ambitious for The Pilgrims to even have a chance to make.
