Sheffield United couldn’t avoid defeat against Leeds United at Bramall Lane last time out as a Dean Henderson mistake gifted Marcelo Bielsa’s side all three points.
The Blades have defied expectations once again under Chris Wilder in the current campaign, as they continue to build towards securing promotion to the Premier League.
However, one area that the club are currently lacking in is quality in the final third, with Billy Sharp carrying the main goalscoring load on his shoulders at this moment in time.
But, Wilder may just have found the answer to his prayers at the pinnacle of the attack, with a raid on the Premier League possibly providing him with the final piece in Sheffield United’s promotion puzzle.
Shane Long has stagnated behind the scenes at Southampton in the current campaign, with four of his nine Premier League appearances coming from off the substitutes’ bench.
However, Sheffield United are reportedly interested in a January move to sign Shane Long on loan.
Chris Wilder will have his sights set on securing promotion to the Premier League this season, whether it’s via the play-offs or automatically, with his side currently sitting in sixth position.
Although, the Blades have struggled to ensure consistency over the past month, with one win, two draws and two losses to their name, so they desperately need to make some changes.
One of their biggest problems has been getting the very best out of their attackers on a regular basis recently, with the likes of David McGoldrick, Leon Clarke and Conor Washington struggling to contribute.
All of the club’s strikers lack pace, apart from Washington, so Long would offer the one key ingredient that has been missing this season. And, with the forward possessing the ability to score goals with his head inside the penalty area, he would thrive off the service from George Baldock and Enda Stevens.
Therefore, promotion may not be too far away for the Blades if they firm up their interest in the Southampton man.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
