He has really impressed lately, hasn’t he? Tyler Roberts seems to have stepped up his performances for the White’s of late and it has caught the eye of many onlookers.
In his first season playing for Leeds United, Roberts has had to bide his time at Elland Road in terms of game time under Marcelo Bielsa. Until mid-September, he did not get a look-in in the Championship. Following game time against Millwall then a brace against Preston North End, Roberts then featured for a further five games from the start and continued to impress.
Until the New Year, he had another spell where other players were preferred in attacking midfield, with Pablo Hernandez coming inside often to accommodate both Jack Harrison and Jack Clarke.
Since then, however, he has regularly featured ever since, helping out with crucial assists against Bolton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. The Welsh international has now won a starting spot in Bielsa’s side which has really allowed him to kick on.
Roberts’ footwork, creative spark and movement in and around the final third makes him a nightmare for opponents to try and control. And at just 20 years of age, he will only continue to get better and where else is better to develop young talent than West Yorkshire?
If he continues his rate of development, even if United do get the promotion to the Premier League and bring in some more experience, Roberts could still hold his own in that role and prove to Bielsa as to why he can be counted on for years to come.
As he does develop in this side, his attacking output will only increase as he will begin to have more and more influence on this United side.
