After former Man United midfielder Ravel Morrison started following Rangers on Instagram (from The Scottish Sun), speculation has begun as to whether the controversial player is moving to Ibrox.
Alongside the club, Morrison has also started following manager Steven Gerrard, as well as players Joe Worrall, Jon Flanagan and Ryan Kent.
Of course, this is a transfer that will divide opinion. Morrison is undoubtedly a huge talent, and was once revered as one of the most promising young players in world football. However, for as much talent as he did indeed show, he displayed a deplorable attitude. This has subsequently meant that he has flitted from club to club until they have grown sick of him, and Rangers could be the next one to take him on.
However, Rangers have not been averse to taking on controversial figures in recent seasons. In 2016, The Gers signed Joey Barton, a player that had quite a reputation for off-field misdemeanours. While this certainly did not go well, as it only lasted a matter of months, Gerrard may be hoping that he can get the best of Morrison.
With that in mind, there is no manager better than Gerrard for Morrison to be under the tutelage of. The Liverpool and England legend could be the one to unleash the potential of Morrison, as there is surely mutual admiration between the two of them.
But there is no denying that this is a risk from Rangers, but in their pursuit to chase Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, it is one worth taking.
