Introducing: Rangers should look to sign Lawrence Shankland

Rangers will likely look to use the January transfer window as an opportunity to add extra firepower to their squad.

Steven Gerrard has certainly managed to improve the Light Blues during his short time with the club already, having added a number of players in the summer, as well as appearing to get the best out of a number of men.

Alfredo Morelos is one that has been crucial for the Ibrox outfit this season, having scored nine goals in his 15 Scottish Premiership outings so far this season.

Kyle Lafferty and Umar Sadiq were both added in the summer, however, both have failed to really kick-on, with rumours about the latter being sent back earlier from his loan spell.

With the January just around the corner, Gerrard should look to address the problem with this one particular who appears to be excelling.

Lawrence Shankland has certainly been making a name for himself this season with Ayr United.

The 23-year-old has managed to find the back of the net an impressive 18 times in his 16 Scottish Championship fixtures so far.

A Glaswegian by birth and a boyhood Rangers fan, his performances have not gone unnoticed, with the likes of Swansea City and even Old Firm rivals Celtic thought to have taken note recently.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, Rangers should look to try and land him either in January on a relatively low fee or look to try and snap him up on a free transfer in the summer.
