Sheffield Wednesday will look to build on their goalless draw against Sheffield United prior to the international break when they meet Derby County at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon.
The pressure has started to mount at the Owls following a recent number of poor performances from Jos Luhukay’s side and a tough game against Frank Lampard’s Rams awaits them.
The international break would not have helped the Dutchman’s preparations for the upcoming fixture, however, it would have given him a chance to see some of his players in extended action.
Luhukay will have been able to cast an eye on Steven Fletcher, Daniel Pudil and Adthe Nuhiu, with one of those men having impressed during the fortnight.
Fletcher was on international duty with Scotland for their UEFA Nations League matches against Albania and Israel, having started both fixtures.
The 31-year-old, who has struggled for goals this season in the Championship, will have done his confidence some good with the displays he produced for the national side.
He scored a penalty in the game against Albania and will now look to build on the three he has netted for the Owls so far.
The striker is not the only one that has been goal shy this season, as Sheffield Wednesday have struggled to find the back of the net regularly.
However, Fletcher is an important member of Luhukay’s squad and will be equally vital in helping to ease the pressure from the Dutchman’s shoulders.
