Introducing: The creative talent that Newcastle have been crying out for

Going forward, Newcastle have been pretty poor this season and in truth, Benitez needs to address their forward options otherwise the Magpies could well be facing a tough season ahead and one that could well end in the club being relegated this year.

The Spaniard was severely underfunded in the transfer market over the summer and it’s shown so far in this season. As it stands, Newcastle are second from bottom and have only got two points this season.

The pressure is starting to gather on the team and on Benitez and they desperately need something to change or they might as well finish the season now.

In what will come as great news for the fans and the team, Newcastle United academy product, Sean Longstaff is close to signing a new deal to remain (as per the Chronicle) at the club. The midfielder’s deal expires at the end of the season and it is essential that the club tie him down to a new contract.

As mentioned, Newcastle have struggled going forward this season and as of yet, Rondon, who has struggled with fitness this year, has struggled to have a huge impact on the attack. Moreover, summer loan signing Kenedy has failed to make much of an effect since he’s returned to the side. Similarly, on the wings, Jacob Murphy, Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie haven’t provided much threat.

Through the middle, Ayoze Perez, like his teammates has struggled to show much form and it’s in his position where Longstaff will likely fit in. Although unproven at the top level, the midfielder has a great eye for a pass and has great vision. His passing range is excellent and during his time at Blackpool the youngster showed that he also has an eye for goal as he scored eight goals to go with five assists in League One.

He still has a few areas in his game to improve on but that will come with time. It was essential that the club signed him to a new deal and it might just be the best news to come out of Newcastle for a long time.
