Manchester City will be looking to close the gap between themselves and Liverpool as the season progresses, with the Premier League title still in their sights at this stage.
The Citizens have been completely dominant in recent times under Pep Guardiola, with wins against Huddersfield Town, Liverpool, Burton Albion, Rotherham United and Wolves providing them with a big confidence boost.
However, one thing that has worried supporters this season and in the past is the club’s current batch of young players, as Jadon Sancho and Brahim Diaz’s departures have raised a few alarm bells.
So, looking to bring in a new young talent should be the next move for Manchester City.
Jadon Sancho has gone on to establish himself as one of the most promising players in world football since leaving Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund. And, Brahim Diaz will inevitably go on to achieve great things at Real Madrid in the future, so the Citizens have lost two very talented youngsters.
But, Pep Guardiola could soon make up for selling Diaz and Sancho, as according to Sport, Manchester City are keen on securing the services of Barcelona youngster Ilaix Moriba.
City could secure themselves a potential Etihad hero if Guardiola goes all out to sign the midfielder as he has been dubbed as the ‘new Paul Pogba‘, having impressed in the youth ranks at Barcelona. He operates in the middle of midfield and has already drawn comparisons to the Frenchman, with his passing ability and eagle eye for goal.
Guardiola is on the hunt for a long-term replacement for Fernandinho and City are currently low on numbers in the middle of midfield, so a move for Moriba would benefit them massively in the future. He has all the ingredients to become a future star, but the City boss really needs to include youth in his side in order to reap the benefits.
